FEHMARN BELT - CONSTRUCTION OF TUNNEL
A tunnel is under construction in the Fehmarn Belt between Rdbyhavn and Puttgarden. It will always be possible for shipping to pass the area where the tunnel is established.
To protect the construction activities, work areas into which entry is prohibited, will be established. Work areas are moved as the construction activities progress.
Entry into the work areas will only be permitted for ships involved in the construction activities. There will normally be construction activities in two work areas at a time.
The work areas are marked with yellow special can buoys with X-topmark and light - northern work area Fl(3)Y.10s and southern work area Fl(2 + 1)Y.15s.
The flashes of the buoyage will be synchronized in each work area. In addition, all buoys in each work area will be equipped with AIS-AtoN.
In the work areas and the North Holding Area S of Rdby buoys with yellow lights will be used to mark deployed anchors and the wire that extends from these anchors.
Upon inquiry on VHF channel 68, the VTS Fehmarnbelt can provide information on how to pass the work areas.
